Onions which were being sold at Rs 40 per kg are now being sold at Rs 80-Rs 100 per kg. Other vegetables too are being sold at high prices said Ramesh Kumar Singh a businessman. Meanwhile as the detentions continue scores of families lined up outside Kotwali Police Station alleging that their own have been detained without reason . Principal Secretary Home Arvind Kumar said the compensation will be disbursed on Monday. The CM has also sought a report on the violence. Kumar and state DGP Om Prakash Singh briefed him about the incident Sunday. The CM reviewed development of the Kasganj incident Kumar said adding that so far no action has been taken against any official. Kasganj (UP): More than 80 persons were arrested while Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel intensified vigil on Sunday in strife-torn Kasganj which continued to be tense. Explosives were found during house to house searches following which the state police chief said that the stringent National Security Act (NSA) would be invoked against the culprits. The Yogi Adityanath government meanwhile emphasised that none of the mischief mongers would be spared. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said that neither the criminals nor conspirators would get away even as the opposition BSP and SP targeted the state government on the law and order front. At least three shops two private buses and a car were torched here on Saturday after a young boy was killed in clashes following stone-pelting by a mob on a motorcycle rally taken out to celebrate Republic Day. Uttar Pradesh Police claimed that the situation was now again turning normal. We are speaking to the people the guilty are being arrested intensive checking and house-to-house searches were undertaken. He said that shops selling tea snacks vegetables milk and medicine were already allowed to remain open and normalcy would when others open their shops. Terming the Kasganj violence as unfortunate Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on Sunday said that not even a single guilty person will be spared. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is himself monitoring the developments and stringent punishment will be meted out to the guilty no matter how big the guilty is or how strong his political connections are . Sharma said that a criminal was a criminal irrespective of his caste creed or religion. Such incidents will not be allowed to happen in any other place he stressed. Now we have strong laws. It is a warning to criminals that if they conspire to create riots rifts in the society or indulge in dacoity then all those indulge in these acts will be punished and also their conspirators he said. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) meanwhile targeted the BJP over the incident. In a statement issued BSP chief Mayawati claimed that in the entire country and especially in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh Gujarat Madhya Pradesh Haryana Rajasthan and Maharashtra development and public welfare activities had taken a back seat while a poor law and order situation prevailed. This proves that there has been a criminalisation of the ruling BJP at every level she said. In UP there no rule of the Constitution but a jungle raj-like atmosphere is prevailing. The latest example is that of Kasganj district where on 26 January there was tension. The tension is still prevailing and the state government seems to be failing here Mayawati said. She said the BSP condemned the violence and demands that stringent punishment be given to the guilty persons. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Sunil Singh Sajan alleged The government is staging riots in Kasganj. We do not want the resignation of the chief minister. We simply want peace and normalcy to return to the trouble-torn place which is synonymous with the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the state . He alleged that for the past three days volunteers of RSS Vishva Hindu Parishad and ABVP were threatening people and an atmosphere of fear prevailed. And the government is quiet. I leaned out of the car window and drove (because smoke from burning properties blocked view). I could barely see but at that point I was just trying to get my wife out alive. Asked about his day-old daughter he said I am just glad I got to see her face. Nothing else matters to me. I don t even wish ill to those people who attacked me. AGRA: Post afternoon on Sunday normalcy returned to Kasganj - where tension had prevailed since Republic Day - after local residents traders political leaders police officials and local administration held a peace meeting in the district. The meeting headed by Aligarh divisional commissioner Subhas Chandra Sharma was attended by ADG Agra zone Ajay Anand BJP Sadar MLA Devendra Singh Rajput BJP district president Purendar Singh Solanki former Samajwadi party MLA Hasrat Ullah Sherwani former Kasganj Nagar Palika chairperson Chaudhary Nural Hasan and traders leader Amit Paltani along with 40 other local residents. Speaking to TOI Solanki said It was a very unfortunate incident. In the first place this violence should not have happened. But now we will help the district administration in restoring peace in a phase-wise manner. We have asked traders living in mixed-population areas to initiate talks with their neighbours and open the shops for daily routine trade. Following them others too will start. Sherwani said Kasganj has always been a peaceful district and we will again build up the relationship of brotherhood no matter how much deliberate attempts are made to create a divide between us. On Republic Day morning a group of youths attempted to instigate a particular community by hurling verbal abuse while they were hoisting national flag. But police have now identified them and arrested them to reinstate normalcy. People of other community in Kasganj are first Indians and will remain till their last breath. We have asked all the traders to open the market so that people can buy necessary groceries and a confidence is build-up among neighbours Sherwani told TOI. According to police out of 20 named accused in the murder of Chandan Gupta three were from the same family and are yet to be arrested. TOI spoke to a witness to the Republic Day incident that flared up into violent clashes. Around 200 youths on motor-bikes were using abusive language and were emphasising to hoist saffron flag along with tri-color to prove the nationalism spirit.
